Summer Breeze Makes Us Feel Fine

The Summer holidays officially start next week with schools around the country breaking up for the Summer.

Across Europe, mainly because of the heat, schools close much earlier and then “businesses” seem to start closing down, especially during the month of August. An Italian client of ours asked whether this is the same in the UK because in Italy holiday allowance is saved up and a lot of the Italian work force makes its way to the coast. In the UK things might slow down, dictated of course, by the school terms, but businesses do not really “stop”. Apparently Rome is empty during the month of August except for tourists who are brave enough to tolerate the midday sun!

The Summer months, like the Christmas period, is a good time for contemplation and an opportunity to regroup, focus on projects for the Autumn/Winter so we are ready to start again. The sunshine, longer days, the outdoor mentality all make such a difference, even if the office where work takes place does not have air con, knowing that at the end of the day there is an opportunity to enjoy the sunshine and balmy evenings.

Do we opt for “ a staycation”, exploring unspoilt parts of the UK, sharing these spots with millions of visitors from overseas who want to discover the classic tourists traps . Or do we run away certain to find the weather that we have been waiting for all year.

Whatever we do, this quote sums it up nicely. "Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is a jewelled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world." Ada Louise Huxtable
