ROPA - SURVEY
Since the publication of the White Paper in 2019, for the Regulation of Property Agents, ROPA has been discussed and then discussed again.
Over the last 7 months both the Housing Minister and Lord Best have made headlines by making reference to ROPA.
On the 16th July 2025, Danny Beales, MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip proposed the following:-
“a Bill that would establish a new independent regulator of managing agents. It would require managing agents to have mandatory qualifications and to pass a fit and proper person test. The regulator would be empowered to impose continuing professional development requirements.”
This is a significant move and fits in with the discussions of the TLIC ROPA Working Group. As a result of those discussions, the Working Group have put together a Survey and we would be grateful if you could complete it as your feedback will be invaluable.
We will be providing the results of the Survey to Government, along with a proposal for the Regulation of Property Agents.
Please send the Survey to your colleagues in Sales, Lettings and Block Management who may not be in our distribution list as we require as many individual responses as possible.
If you have already received the Survey from PropertyMark or another organisation, please ignore this request.
Thank you in advance.
