Mind, Body, Spirit - Take Care of all Three

Jon Gordon wrote “We are not positive because life is easy. We are positive because life is hard. Positivity is what we use to overcome challenges and negativity. Being positive requires hardworking. Being positive is a choice.”

It may simple for someone to tell us at a time like this that positivity is key to overcome the challenges we are all currently facing, the #NewNormal of Self-Isolation, working from home, Social-Distancing, home-schooling and keeping children of all ages entertained. The thoughts for some people are too over-whelming - fear of the unknown and fear of this immense change that none of us have ever experienced. Yet, where there is a negative, there is a positive. We have to take this time will is not a “forever” existence to reassess the way we live, the way we work and the way we are. There has been so much negativity reported by the national press, but of interest are the positives.

The volunteers working to support those who in need ranging from working in food banks, to delivering food to people who are house bound'; Tremendous carers who work with the vulnerable and the elderly at close proximity; Key workers, the NHS, front line workers like paramedics & the ambulance service, teachers who are supporting the children of key workers; and of course, the people, every person who listens and abides by the Government guidance & request to stay at home. The complexity of what we need to do to stay safe is underestimated, none of this is normal, so we need to be united and be strong.

It is important to stay connected and take care of our well-being, whether that be our physical health or our mental health. There are may ways that can provide us with support - social media, using the phone, writing traditional letters, now more than ever , it is crucial to communicate with one another. Silence is not necessary. Mental health charities are working tirelessly to ensure that people are not alone, whilst The Silver Line and Age UK are showing us just how important it is to help the older generation.

It is impossible to know the true impact of Covid-19 as everyone’s experience is different, and this will leave a lasting impression on all our lives, but as a united nation, supporting one other through this very difficult time, we will prevail.

Whether it is Yoga, a walk, playing catch with the children in the garden, reading a book, learning a new skill, cooking for neighbours or volunteering, we will never have this time back again. Remember take care of each other, take care of your Mind, Body and Spirit.

“In the midst of every crisis, lies great opportunity” Albert Einstein
