Should Old Acquaintance be forgot ?

Every year, for as long as I can remember, I have heard "Auld Lang Syne" - I will admit that I did not always know the words until I was asked to explain the "song" to a group of children when I was living in France. Auld Lang Syne has become an absolute tradition in New Year's Eve celebrations. It's sweet, nostalgic, hopeful - many of us do not know the song in its entirety, but somehow it conjures up a great deal of emotion.The song derives from a 1788 Scots poem by Robert Burns, it is set to the tune of a traditional folk song. The poet never  expected or intended that his poem would act as a farewell to the old year. The phrase "for auld lang syne" essentially means "for (the sake of) old times" and it calls for the preservation of our oldest, dearest friendships. And it somehow serves the purpose the reflective quality of New Year's Eve. A time when people come together to recall past joys and sorrows, successes and failures, the highs and the lows. 

Reflect on 2017

The year appears to have sped by - the Private Rented Sector - Landlords, Letting Agents & Property Managers have been faced with so much change that some have been unwilling to continue working within the sector "because it's all becoming too much". Look back two years to 2015 - so much legislation to deal with, regulations and laws that have now become second nature. Now is the time to reflect on the positives, opportunities that come with change.

To remain competitive in the market, it’s crucial for companies to evolve and adapt to the changing climate. But organisational change in a company can be incredibly disruptive — affecting employees, top-tier executives, and the agency's success as a whole. Be ready - Plan.

• 14% of efforts fail because of a lack of adequate funds or resources

• 14% of efforts fail for “other” reasons

We may push and pull against the forces that appear to be against us, however this can lead to great cause and effect, providing we are ready. 2018 will bring so much change on so many levels. Let's embrace it and be ready.
